Origin: there are a few points of origin near the elbow joint
  • lateral epicondyle of the humerus(small round prominence at the bottom of the humerus)
  • radial collateral ligament(ligament located on the outside of the elbow joint)
  • supinator crest of the ulna(raised ridge that runs down the ulna)
  • annular ligament(ligament that surrounds the top of the radius and connects it to the ulna)

Insertion: Anterior, lateral surface of proximal one-third crest of the radial shaft

Action: Rotates the forearm so the palm is facing upward
