Origin:
there are a few points of origin near the elbow joint
lateral epicondyle of the humerus(small round prominence at the bottom of the humerus)
radial collateral ligament(ligament located on the outside of the elbow joint)
supinator crest of the ulna(raised ridge that runs down the ulna)
annular ligament(ligament that surrounds the top of the radius and connects it to the ulna)

Insertion:
Anterior, lateral surface of proximal one-third crest of the radial shaft
Action:
Rotates the forearm so the palm is facing upward
